About Me

Hello, my name is Jim Richardson.  I am extremely excited to be the new Engineering Teacher here at University City High School!

I am originally from Orange County, California, and I grew up in a town called Yorba Linda.  After high school, I left California to attend the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.  After four years of intense schooling and training, I graduated Annapolis with a Bachelor of Science degree in Control Systems Engineering, and received an Officer’s Commission in the United States Marine Corps.

I served as an Infantry Officer for over 10 years in the Marines, deploying to Iraq twice, and once to the entire Middle East as an Embassy Representative for the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.  I was honorably discharged from the Marines in August, 2013, and subsequently took a job as a Project Engineer with Terra Nova Technologies, Inc., based out of Santee, CA.  After working for TNT for over three years, I discovered that there was an opportunity to teach engineering at the high school level here in San Diego.  From that point on, I pursued the training and other requirements to be eligible for a teaching position.  In August 2016, I was hired by University City High School to teach Introduction to (Engineering) Design and Principles of Engineering.

Again, I am extremely excited to be a part of the University City High School family!  Go Centurions!
